60TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL AT FIVE MILE POINT NEXT UP FOR THE RoC DART DIRT MODIFIED TOUR
BY JR KENNERUP

Binghamton, NY … The 2010 Race of Champions Dart Dirt Modified Tour continues on Wednesday July 7th as the 60th Anniversary Special takes place at the Five Mile Point Speedway. The historic quarter mile oval will be hosting a full show of RoC Modifieds, RoC Sportsman, and round 2 of the Colossal Cat Challenge.

The RoC Modifieds will be running in a 60 lap $6,000 to win event and this amount could increase by $1,000 making it a $7,000 payday. The additional $1,000 is split up into two parts with part one being a $500 Dart Machinery Small Block Bonus that goes to the highest finishing small block Modified on this night. Part two of the bonus is worth an additional $500 and this is being sponsored by Andrew Harpell of Five Mile Point and Bob Miller / Bruce Rogers of Grandview / Thunder on The Hill Series. The driver who has the best combined finishes between these two shows will receive a $500 bonus.

The Modifieds this year at Five Mile Point have been dominated by Stewart Friesen as he has won six of eight features going into the last weekend of June. Friesen who won the last RoC show at Five Mile Point last November has showed everyone the quick way around the quarter mile this year so far.
It is anticipated that a very strong field of Modified racing talent will converge on Five Mile Point looking to go home with the big money on this night. Leading the list of invaders is current and three time consecutive RoC Dart Dirt Modified Champion Pat Ward, who is also the current RoC point leader. Danny Johnson is second in points is always a contender when he races at Five Mile Point. Duane Howard sits third in points and he will be making a very rare appearance in the Chad Sinon / BPG Racing entry.

Current American Racer East Coast Modified Cup point leader Billy Van Pelt is expected to be in competition on this night also. With the Five Mile Point / Grandview bonus taking place it is anticipated that many of the stars of the Grandview Speedway will be making the trip north on this night. These drivers will join many of the tough local competitors making this evening an anticipated one full of hard nose short track Modified racing indeed.

Pit gates will open at 4:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday July 7th with grandstand gates opening one hour later. Hot laps will begin at 6:30 in the evening with the first heat getting the green at 7:15 Wednesday night.
