FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY TO HOST ROC DART DIRT SPORTSMAN OPENER ON SUNDAY, APRIL 11TH.
KIRKWOOD, NY…Five Mile Point Speedway will be ready to start the 60th consecutive year of racing on Sunday, April 11th with the running of the RoC Dart Dirt Sportsman Tour. The Sportsman teams will be joined by a Street Stock open show and a split division of Lightning Cat Novice and Experts. Race time is set for 5:00 p.m.
The RoC Dart Dirt Sportsman teams will be gunning for $1,500 to win in the 40 lap tour opener. The Street Stock Open show will pay $500 to the winner of the 25 lapper and the Lightning Cat Novice and Expert divisions will have split features for this Sunday opener.
Last year Utica Rome Speedway Sportsman standout Jeff Leslie used the final race at Five Mile Point Speedway to lock up his first RoC title. Leslie won the Southern Tier 100 for Sportsman at the Point and earned over $2,500 for his efforts. Seventy teams were on hand for the final tour point race of 2009. Chasing Leslie at the finish was Penn Can Speedway campaigner Jeff Crambo. Crambo will be calling Five Mile Point Speedway his home in 2010 and will be looking to get off to the right start in the April 11th opener.
Five Mile Point Speedway standouts Justin Holland, Dwayne Robbins, Chris Wood, Jamie Batzel, Mike Nagel Jr. and many more will be hoping to start off 2010 by defending their home track. The Sportsman division once again looks to be very strong at the Point weekly this season.
